Young Internists Assembly in Tel Aviv

This year’s EFIM Spring Meeting was held in Tel Aviv from 29th to 30th March 2012. Hosted by the Israeli Society for Internal Medicine, this was an extremely well organised meeting, and the social programme offered an opportunity to experience a glimpse of Israel. As well as the Executive and Administrative Councils, the Working Groups convened to continue work on all major EFIM projects. FDIME Announces 3 Research Grants for Rare Diseases Projects

The Foundation for the Development of Internal Medicine in Europe (FDIME) offers grants for Young Internists (up to age 38 yrs) interested to develop research in the field of rare diseases in adults. 3 grants of 20,000 Euros each are available for a maximum period of 1 year.

5th Young Internists Day in Athens - Great Success!!!

The Hellenic Society of Internal Medicine hosted the 5th Young Internists day in Athens on the 7th OCtober 2011. The meeting built on the success of previous meetings and was a great success. The meeting was attended by a large audience of Young Internists from all across Europe and supported by professors and senior members of the EFIM executive - who all took an active part in the proceedings! The meeting was introduced by Lenka Bosanska - the chair of the Assembly of Young Internists - and was followed by an excellent menu of educational events and workshops. An experience you never forget - ESIM

On September 5th-10th 2011 again about 55 young internists from all over the Europe and other countries joined the European School of Internal Medicine in Brighton. Excellent speakers and an inspiring athmosphere of the Sussex Medical School provided many opportunities to update ones knowledge in internal medicine, to discuss challenging questions or interesting clinical cases. Young Internists’ Assembly Meeting held in Bucharest, Romania, March 2011

The Romanian Society of Internal Medicine hosted the Spring Meeting of EFIM in Bucharest from the 18th to the 20th of March 2011. The meeting was held in the heart of Bucharest in the grand Hilton hotel with excellent facilities and a very smooth meeting. This was another wonderful opportunity for members of the Federation to get together to discuss and develop the many strands of work that are currently underway. This was also the third opportunity for the Assembly of Young Internists to meet and was an extremely productive meeting. Full Report

ESIM now twice a year!

January 2011: European School of Internal Medicine (ESIM), a very successful and popular educational project of EFIM, hosts every year about 60 young internists from all around the Europe. Lectures covering actual topics in internal medicine and a big variety of interactive activities as well as social program provide an excellent opportunity for learning and exchanging experience between participants. Starting January 2011, the school will due to great interest take place twice a year to allow more young physicians to participate. The first ESIM Winter School was held in Saas-Fee in Switzerland and was again a great success! For more information and interesting video talks with participants visit www.esim2011.ch.

Young Internists’ Delegation to the Benefit Gala Concert in Paris

Oct 22nd 2010: Foundation for the Development of Internal Medicine (FDIME) and Fondation Pierre Bergé held a first benefit concert to raise the funds for medical research in rare diseases in adults. A four-member-delegation of European Young Internists gathered in Paris to support the event and to enjoy an amazing concert. Well known operatic arias were performed by Inva Mula, Beatrice Uria-Monzon, Luca Lombardo and Laurent Naouri and accompanied by the Paris National Orchestra conducted by Jean-Francois Verdier… All four of us as well as the whole international audience got enraptured by the great performance of the artists and later on by the charming Parisian atmosphere….what a special evening it was!

Second Meeting of the EFIM Young Internists’ Assembly, Luzern 2010

Sept 23rd 2010: The Assembly of Young Internists was established in Amsterdam in 2009 and had its inaugural meeting in Asker, Norway on March 2010. Building on the success of this meeting, the Assembly held its second meeting in Luzern, in conjunction with the EFIM Scientific Day and Administrative Council. Young Internists as representatives of 13 of the 35 member countries attended the meeting along with the Young Internists Sub-committee in a highly successful and productive meeting…(for full report, press here).

First Assembly of Young Internists of EFIM held in Oslo, March 2010

The Norwegian Society of Internal Medicine hosted the first meeting of the Assembly of Young Internists in Asker, Norway in March 2010. This important meeting marks the beginning of an exciting and challenging time in the story of the Young Internists of the European Federation of Internal Medicine. With the support of the EFIM Executive and Administrative Council, the Assembly was established in the EFIM Bye-laws in Amsterdam on 31st October 2009… (for full report, press here).

CDIME project finalized

European School of Internal Medicine summer 2010

ESIM 2010: July 4-9th: This year’s Summer School was held in Brighton, UK, and once again proved EFIM commitment to the education of European physicians. Residents from around the continent gathered for a week of knowledge exchange and intense after-hours program. Full details can be found on the website: www.esim2010.org.
